The Harry L. Coomes Recreation Center will be closed from Monday, September 7 through Sunday, September 13 for our annual Shut Down Week. The entire facility will be closed, and we will not offer fitness classes that week.
We have a busy week planned with many projects and renovations to help make the center even better for you! We look forward to showing you all of our hard work when we reopen on Monday, September 14.

CAST Swim Team will begin ✨this Monday, August 10✨!
The cost for CAST will be $75/month for members and $100/month for non-members with practices every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30-5:30 P.M.

On Wednesday, August 12, at noon, we will have pizza from Mamma Mia's and play train-related trivia games at the Train Station! Come see this new space and learn new things with friends. You can register at the front desk to ride the bus, or feel free to meet us there! If you do ride the bus, please meet us at The Rec at 11:35 A.M. The bus will depart at 11:50 A.M. with arrival to the train station at noon.

Join us in 1 week for a talk about and tour of the Coomes Center's Native Plant Garden.
On Tuesday, August 11, at 10 A.M., members of the Virginia Master Naturalists, Extension Master Gardeners, and Wild Ones Appalachian Highlands will talk about the benefits of native plants and how to plan out your garden. After the talk, we will walk out to the garden here at the Coomes Center to see the beauty of these native plants.
